Where Do You Go When You Meditate?

I was recently reminded that we need to go through certain exercises when we meditate. One of those exercises is going to the same place. If you keep going to the same places when you meditate, your mind knows what you expect to find when you get there.

Now to answer the question at hand, “Where do I go when I meditate?” It depends on what I want to get out of the meditation.

When I became spiritual, a wise elder taught me to use an egg to protect myself. So, in order for the egg to protect me, it must be big enough for me to get inside. In my mind, the egg became a carriage which was plenty big enough for me and my guides. The carriage is similar to the pumpkin carriage in Cinderella. I open the door and get in and always sit in the seat to the right of the door. This is the seat toward the back of the carriage, so it would be the forward facing seat. Then, I ask for a specific guide or combination of them. The guide will sometimes materialize in the seat across from me. Sometimes the guide will come in the door and sit down. I guess it depends on how much of a hurry we are in. We talk about the matter at hand and leave the carriage. Leaving the carriage ends the meditation.

I read a Shamanism book at some point which suggested that meditations take place in the world tree. The book make it sound like a dangerous place, so be sure to use your spiritual protection before going there. You start out in a small room with wooden plank walls and floor. You put on some spiritual protection. Maybe, your protection is white light. Maybe, you prefer something else better. Then you go through a small door near the floor, just big enough for you to crawl through. When you get in there, you see a tree as big around as a house and as tall as a sky scrapper. There are levels on the tree and some of the levels are separated by clouds. I go here when I want to meet my totem animal. The Shamanism book talked about quests you can go on and one was finding your totem animal. My totem animal has taken me to the top of the tree meet a squirrel when I needed the advice of it. My totem animal has also taken me down by the roots of the tree where I saw beautiful caverns of crystal which take in a little light but spread it out to all the crystals much like love spreads if you put it out there.

I go to the throne room if I need to talk with Mother God, Father God, or Jesus. The interesting thing here is that I saw Jesus at the right hand of God here before I read the bible verse that says Jesus sits at the right hand of God. Mother God sits on the left. The interesting thing about the throne room is that sometimes no one is there. Even when no one is there, you can still get a message from Mother God, Father God, or Jesus. They leave them like thoughts in the air. It’s so weird to go there and know what they would have said even though they are not there. When I leave and go back out the door that is straight across from the thrones, the meditation is over.

Those are some of the places I go when I meditate. You could also go to a completely black room and let it become what it will. You could go to a doctor’s office or hospital for spiritual healing. I like one of Sylvia’s meditations where you go to a meadow and meet your guide in a gazebo. Ultimately, it’s up to you. The more you meditate, the more you will be comfortable going to certain settings. Share your favorite settings in the comments.
