As we have been singing a few Christmas carols during this Christmas season, I cannot help but wonder if something spiritual has gotten lost over the years.
The original Joy To the World is believed to be written by Issac Watts around 1719. The great news about all these songs is you can sing it wherever you want and not worry about copyright because they are in the public domain. What I find absolutely awesome about Joy to The World is the entire premise of the song is Joy to the World. Joy is a high vibration. As Spiritualists, we do want the entire world to be Joyful. The second awesome thing about this is Heaven and nature sing. As Spiritualists, we see and feel nature singing all the time. It’s great that once a year everyone can sing about Joy and nature’s songs. One awesome thing God did was give each animal a different sound or song.
O Come All Ye Faithful also talks about the high vibrations of Joyful and Triumphant. It was probably written in the 13th century by either John of Reading or more likely John Francis Wade. The song also talks about glory to God. Worshiping God is a way to show your gratitude and thankfulness, but that was more a Thanksgiving lesson than Christmas.
Deck the Halls dates back to the 16th century and is also talking about a high vibrations. Be jolly in the third line. Put on happy clothes in the 5th line. Let your light shine by being jolly in your day to day life.
God Rest Ye Marry Gentlemen was published by William B. Sandys in 1833. It also talks about high vibrations of Comfort and Joy.
It Came Upon a Midnight Clear (written by Edmund Sears). This hymn and poem also includes some high vibrations: “Peace on the earth, goodwill to men”. This song is mostly about angels singing though. Angels are a part of every religion which of course includes Spiritualism. I’d like to hear the angels singing.
When I looked up Oh Holy Night, it gave me those goosebumps of affirmation all over. Spirit definitely wanted me to write about this one. I love the line, “Led by the light of faith serenely beaming.” Spirituality is definitely led by light. Every day, I use light for protection, healing, and try to let my light shine. It was composed by Adolphe Adam in 1847. This Hymn also talks about the Spirit feeling it’s worth. Following the mention of the Spirit is mention of the High Vibrations Hope, Rejoice, and Glory. These are the fruit of the Spirit.
Silent Night was composed 1818 in Austria. This wonderful Hymn speaks of “Love’s pure Light” streaming from the face of Jesus. You can see this if you visit him in a meditation.
We Three Kings is mostly about a star. Isn't it amazing how the perfect star, nature, led people to Baby Jesus. It was written some time between 1857 and 1863. This song also speaks of incense and the meaning of Frankincense and Myrrh. The meaning of these incense is predicting what will happen in Christ’s life.
