The difference between a gift and a power is that you can control a power. A gift comes and goes. You can hone a gift but you never have full control.
1. Prophecy. The gift of prophecy is number one for a reason. It will make your life better. A lot of churches have the belief that it is old testament only. Like you don’t see much prophecy these days. But, it is mentioned in Romans, 1 Corinthians, and Ephesians. These are new testament books. This should open your eyes. Prophecy is still around today. Anybody can do it, you just have to get away from the busyness of day to day life and take time in the silence. Raise your vibration to get messages from beyond the veil. You can also try divination with tarot cards, scrying, Automatic Writing, or some other form of divination.
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.- Romans 12:6-8 (NIV)
2. Spiritual Healing. The gift of spiritual healing is more common with water signs in astrology. That kind of makes sense as water has a healing energy. However, anyone can do healing. Some concepts involved in healing are your sending and receiving hands. Your receiving hand is your non-dominant hand. This is easy to remember because when you are writing you are sending words to the paper. Use your receiving hand to pull the negative energies out of your subject. You’ll channel these energies down to the ground. You’ll probably want to send them straight to the ground without letting them pass through you. Remember, it’s touch and release. You don’t want to be accused of giving a massage. Use your sending hand to send healing energy in the form of green light to your subject. I like to start at the top and work my way down since we are pushing negative energy to the ground. After doing a Spiritual Healing, you will want to do a Spiritual Cleansing on yourself.
3. Leadership. A good leader is someone who casts vision that other can understand. But, more importantly the leader should meet with the people they are leading on a regular basis and build a relationship. This relationship is about understanding what is going on in their lives. When you build a relationship with those you are leading, you almost gain a power over them. They will do what you ask because they trust and believe in you.
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. - Ephesians 4:11-13 (NIV)
4. Teaching. The gift of teaching comes with a need to be able to research and keep good notes. In order to teach, you must be able to comprehend knowledge yourself. You must also be careful not to be teaching false teachings. So, you must be able to research and find Absolute Truth. Teaching also involves a way to communicate that information to other people. It could be through the written word like this blog or it could be through public speaking. 1 Corinthians 12:8 mentions both a message of wisdom and a message of knowledge. They are not the same thing. Wisdom is knowledge that has been tested over time.
5. Serving. This one reminds me of the 5 love languages. Some people feel loved when you do something for them. Think of this one more about giving time. This one is easy and pretty self explanatory.
If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. - 1 Peter 4:11 (NIV)
6. Giving. This one reminds me of the 5 love languages. Some people feel loved when they receive gifts. That’s why we are here right. We want gifts from the Holy Spirit. Think of this one as more about giving money or material things.
7. Exhortation. This is defined as giving an address or communication using empathy to convince someone to do something. Typically this gift is used to motivate people to brotherly love and good works.
8. Mercy. Mercy is forgiving someone who is not worthy of forgiveness. I think in the context of the Bible, this is talking about God having mercy on us for the wrongs we have done. However, in the context of our daily lives, this could be forgiveness for other people.
9. Miracles. This one is pretty self explanatory. A miracles is something so far from ordinary that it cannot be explained. It doesn’t fit in with the scientific model of this century.
10. Administration. Administration is a bit different than Leadership or Teaching. I like to think of Administration as more behind the scenes support of a Leader. Think of this as the Secretary of a non-profit like a church. It could also be a gift for governing or working government.
11. Speaking in Tongues. Speaking in tongues is not all that common these days. I think I’ve seen someone speak in tongues one time. It is a pretty crazy experience as you sit there with no clue what the speaker is saying. Speaking in tongues is a Spiritual person speaking in an Angelic tongue that is not known to most people these days.
To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. - 1 Corinthians 12:8–10 (NIV)
12. Interpretation of Tongues. So usually, one person will speak in tongues and another person will interpret that angelic tongue to tell us what is really being said in our language. This is the gift of translating speaking in tongues back to our natural language.
And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret? - 1 Corinthians 12:28–30 (NIV)
